Summary
This ai theme generator for WordPress builds a theme.json from one brand color. It computes a palette, checks WCAG contrast for text, links and buttons, and sets a modular type scale. The rules are fixed, so output is predictable and testable. Copy the file into a block theme and refine it in the Site Editor.
Generate a theme.json palette and type scale in seconds
An AI theme generator for WordPress usually promises a whole site. This one does the part you can verify: a contrast-checked palette, a modular type scale and a ready theme.json for your block theme.
What the generator actually computes
A palette from one color
Your brand color becomes Primary. The tool reads its hue and builds Base, Surface and Contrast from it in HSL, at 97, 93 and 11 percent lightness on a light base, or 9, 14 and 92 on a dark one. Accent sits 150 degrees around the color wheel.
Contrast you can check
Four pairs are measured with the WCAG 2.x luminance formula: body text, link, button text and accent. Each gets a ratio and a grade. If the link fails AA, its lightness moves one step at a time until it passes.
A modular type scale
Medium is 1rem. Large, extra large and huge multiply by your ratio once, twice and three times, and small divides by it. With the 1.2 ratio you get 0.833, 1, 1.2, 1.44 and 1.728 rem.
Why design tokens come before patterns
A hero pattern, a card grid and a footer all read the same palette slugs. When those slugs hold values that fail contrast, every pattern inherits the failure, and you find out on the client's phone. Fixing tokens first means the patterns you build, or generate with Pattern Forge, start from colors that already pass. Test the result with a real client site, not a sandbox.
- Palette slugs are shared by every block and pattern
- Font size slugs keep headings consistent across templates
- One theme.json edit updates the whole site
From generated file to live theme

1
Choose the inputs
Start with the brand color from the client's logo. Pick a light base unless the brand is dark by nature, then choose the font pairing that fits the tone.
-
2
Read the contrast report
Look for any row marked Fail or Large text only. Change the base or the neutral tint until body text, link and button text all pass AA.
-
3
Copy the file into your theme
Press Copy theme.json, paste it at the root of your block theme, then open the Site Editor and confirm the palette appears in the color picker.
-
4
Refine by hand
The output is a starting point. Rename slugs to match your design system, add spacing and layout settings, and commit the file with the rest of the theme.
What this tool does not do
No page layouts
It produces tokens, not templates. Header, footer and page structure still come from your block theme or from patterns you build in the Site Editor.
No web fonts
Both pairings use system stacks to avoid any font request. Brand typefaces need a self-hosted variable font and a fontFace entry, which you add yourself.
No taste guarantee
A palette can pass every contrast check and still look flat. Treat the result as a safe baseline, then adjust Accent and neutrals by eye on a real page.
Questions about the generator
Is this really an AI theme generator?
Is it free, and does it store my colors?
Where does the contrast ratio come from?
Why does the Link color differ from my brand color?
Which WordPress version does the output target?
Will the font stacks load anything from the web?
Does it work for right-to-left sites?
Where does the file go in my theme?
Pass the tokens to a pattern, not a blank page
Once the theme.json is in place, Pattern Forge drafts Gutenberg patterns that use your palette and type scale. Monk is free; Scribe is $12/mo.
